Not so long ago we announced the birth of Nancy’s calf Markus, however visitors to the Park may have noticed another new arrival to the “crash” around a month after Markus was born.

Ruby has also had a calf! She has been named Maureen, affectionately known as ‘Mo’.

Pictured below at just 4 days old, Mo observed mum Ruby grazing and began to mimic her actions but quickly decided to have a nap instead. It is hard work being a newborn rhino after all! Mo is constantly learning from her mum and the rest of the “crash”, however she is not quite ready to feed on the hay just yet. Rhino calves will typically nurse for around a year but will begin to graze at around 2 or 3 months old.

On your next visit to the Park be sure to pay a visit to our rhinos, where you will have the opportunity to see Mo, Markus and the rest of the “crash”. We will have more updates on the rhinos and the rest of the collection in the new year.
