Accessibility

We welcome visitors with disabilities together with their helpers and carers.

The Park is a flat site with wide maintained paths and there are numerous benches around the Park in which to sit, relax and enjoy the view.

Wheelchair and pushchair friendly

There is easy wheelchair and pushchair access around the Park.  Wheelchairs are permitted on the Train, and in the Gift Shop and Restaurant. Please note, prams and pushchairs etc are not permitted in the Madagascar walkthrough or on the Train. There are ramps to access the Giraffe house, Wolverine enclosure and Wolves.

Disabled toilets

There are disabled toilet facilities in each toilet block situated around the Park. These are situated by the Leopards, in the Restaurant, by the Reptile Courtyard and by the Gift Shop (opposite the disabled Car Park). There is a changing facility in the First Aid Room in the Manor House next to the main office, and in our second First Aid Room by the Gift Shop.

Changing Places toilet

We have installed a Changing Places toilet near the Gift shop opposite the disabled car parking.

It comprises of:

  • A free standing, height adjustable, moveable, adult sized changing bed. This can be used in conjunction with the shower.
  • Ceiling hoist, sling and track.
  •  Shower (hoist reaches shower).
  • Washbasin and peninsular toilet.

This changing facility is only for paying customers who are visiting the Park and is available daily from 10.00am to 4.45pm in summer and to 3.45pm in winter. Customers wanting to use this facility must ask in the Gift Shop (next door) for the security code for the door.

Wheelchair Hire

A limited number of wheelchairs are available to hire from the Gift Shop. Please note:

  • Wheelchairs can only be booked up to 4 days in advance of your visit.
  • If you require a wheelchair, please call our Gift Shop before booking your e-tickets to confirm whether there is availability. Our wheelchairs and mobility scooters get booked up quickly during holiday periods.
  • A maximum of two wheelchairs can be hired per person/group, and we are unable to provide wheelchairs for large groups.
  • A deposit of £20.00 is required, payable by credit card or cash. We will only process the deposit payment should the wheelchair not be returned or is damaged in any way.
  • You may receive a phone call from our Gift Shop on the day of your visit to confirm that you still require your booking.

Wheelchairs are available for collection from our Gift Shop from 10:00am until 3.30 pm in summer and until 2.30 pm in winter. They must be returned to the Gift Shop at the car park by 4.30 pm in summer and 3.30 pm in winter, in order to retrieve your deposit.

Mobility scooters for hire

We have a limited number of electric mobility scooters for hire at the Park. Please note:

  • Mobility scooters can only be booked up to 4 days in advance of your visit.
  • If you require a mobility scooter, please call our Gift Shop before booking your e-tickets to confirm whether there is availability. Our wheelchairs and mobility scooters get booked up quickly during holiday periods.
  • A maximum of two mobility scooters can be hired per person/group, and we are unable to provide mobility scooters for large groups.
  • There is a £10.00 charge to hire a mobility scooter for up to 2 hours, or a £20.00 charge to hire a mobility scooter for the day. An additional £50.00 deposit is required, payable by credit card or cash. We will only process the deposit should the scooter not be returned or is damaged in any way.
  • You may receive a phone call from our Gift Shop on the day of your visit to confirm that you still require your booking.

Disabled access to the train

There is wheelchair access to and from the train (step free) and room for 2 wheelchairs on the train.  For those that can walk a short distance there is a wheelchair/pushchair park next to the platform and benches on the platform to wait for the train. The Narrow-Gauge Railway runs during April to October from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm (weather permitting) and takes you all around the Park. Train fare: Adults £2, Child £1 (under 3’s free of charge).

Disabled group rates
