There is plenty of lawn space, seated picnic areas and sheltered picnic areas available across the Park. The Park map sent in the booking confirmation letter will detail where these are, as well as in the leaflets handed out on arrival.
The largest sheltered area is at the top of the car park near the emu enclosure. There are smaller sheltered areas by the giant tortoises, Little Africa, giraffes, and binturong. *Please note that we do not have areas to store any bags or lunch bags so these must either be carried with you or left on your vehicle.
Almost the entire site is accessible to wheelchairs with wide maintained paths and numerous benches around the Park in which to sit and rest. There is easy wheelchair and pushchair access to all enclosures, on to the Narrow-Gauge Railway and to the Gift Shop and Restaurant. We have ensured that any windows in our enclosures are viewable from a wheelchair. There are ramps to access the Giraffe house, wolverine enclosure and wolves. If you wish to hire wheelchairs or mobility scooters, we also offer this facility. Please contact us for further information.
There are disabled toilet facilities in each toilet block situated around the Park. These are situated by the Leopards, in the Restaurant, by the Reptile Courtyard and by the Gift Shop (opposite the disabled Car Park). There is a changing facility in the First Aid Room in the Manor House next to the main office, and in our Changing Places toilet by the Gift Shop. This includes a free standing, height adjustable, moveable, adult sized changing bed, a ceiling hoist, sling and track, a shower (hoist reaches shower) and a washbasin and peninsular toilet. To use this facility, you will need to obtain the door code from the gift shop.
