Things to Do

Feeding

No feeding of any animals by the visitors is allowed.

PENGUIN FEEDING takes place every day (except Fridays) at 11.00 and 16.00 in the Walled Garden. There are keepers on hand to answer questions. In the Winter, afternoon feeding takes place at 3pm.

There is no routine to our BIG CAT feeding times; their wild counterparts will gorge themselves on a meal and then probably not feed again for several days. We do our best to simulate natural conditions for all our animals and, as such, our big cats are not fed daily, but if you are in the area of the lion and leopard enclosure around 4 o’clock it may be worth hanging around - if you are in luck you just might get to see them being fed!

Farmyard

All the animals in the Children's Farmyard may be approached and in some cases will allow themselves to be touched or stroked.

Narrow-gauge Railway

The Narrow-gauge Railway runs April to October (weather permitting) and takes you on an interesting trip around the Park.
£1.00 adults, 50p children per journey.

Brass Rubbing

A popular Brass-rubbing Centre is situated in the Manor House. The centre is open during school holidays and summer weekends.

There are a number of brass plates of animal subjects in two sizes, approximately A5 and A4. All paper and waxes are supplied. 80p for A5 and £1.00 for A4.

There is a small number of larger heraldic and medieval plates depicting historical subjects. The rate for these is £1.20 or £2.00.

Reduced rates are available for groups or schools.

Adventure Playground

Set amongst trees conveniently close to the restaurant and picnic lawns, is the Adventure Playground. There is a large slide with a tree-house, adventure area, swings, space net and other challenging equipment for children.

A carousel suitable for young children is operated during the Summer months.

The spacious lawns and benches nearby provide adults with a place to relax, eat a picnic and let the children play.
