Wolves are Coming!

Over the 36 years we have been open to the public, the Park was been home to a vast variety of species from Armadillos to Zebra, but we have never held a dog species, or should I say a non-domesticated dog species. Imagine then the excitement generated when the decision was made to bring Wolves to the Park.

The Park is creating a 2 acre extension to accommodate these interesting social animals; a perfect setting discovered by our Managing Director Reggie Heyworth when he was just a wee pup exploring his family's woods.

Hidden behind a curtain of evergreen trees lies a vista that could only be improved upon with the addition of several pairs of eyes eerily peering back at you from behind a tree; the whole area just screams "wolf territory!"

Work is now underway on the enclosure and surrounding area.

Visitors will have viewing of the enclosure via a raised wooden walkway; the limited viewing will enable the wolves to maintain a sense of secrecy while giving visitors a greater insight into the behaviour of these animals in their natural environment.

The wolf became extinct in England in 1486, and in 2006 it will return to the Cotswolds. This will be his view as he peers at you from behind a tree at Cotswold Wildlife Park!

Wolf update

It may not look like much at the moment, but the wolf enclosure is beginning to take shape, the perimeter fence is close to completion. The next stage is to erect the wooden walkway which will lead our visitors to the enclosure for their eerie encounter.

The walkway is a pretty mammoth task and may take several months to complete, but it will undoubtedly be worth the wait!
