JULY 2007

Section Updates

East Section

Several species from the East Section have given birth over the last couple of months, the most notable being:

  • Slender-tailed Meerkat
  • Emperor Tamarin
  • Scimitar-horned Oryx
  • Humboldt Penguin
  • Black Stork

West Section

West Section staff are currently hand raising two Ouessant Sheep. "Rosie and Lily"

South Section

Good weather for Flamingos. This year thanks to the wet weather our colony of 50 plus Chilean Flamingos started nesting early. Several chicks have hatched to date with more still expected.

Herpetology

One of our two female Morelet's Crocodile has laid a total of 39 eggs, all of which are now being incubated. With the incubation period around 80 days we've a long wait to see what happens.
