Mkombe Bugingo Tanzanian Safari Tour guide Mkombe Bugingo gets Cotswold Experience

From the stunning interior of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania to the picturesque Cotswold Wildlife Park , worlds apart and yet so many things in common.

When our managing director Reggie Heyworth heard that Mkombe was coming over to England for a holiday he jumped at the opportunity of inviting his friend to stay at the Park for a week. Reggie met Mkombe back in 1995 when he spent 18 months studying the Black Rhino population in the Ngorongoro Crater, during his three years leading the Tanzania Rhino Conservation Programme.

During his stay with us Mkombe worked alongside the keepers and got close to many of the animals, several of which he had never seen before.

His most memorable encounters were seeing a White Rhino for the first time (there are only Black Rhino in the Crater) and he also enjoyed working with Herpetology section head Marc Ormond in the Reptile House, where he got to hold a snake for the first time.
