Testimonials from previous participants

I thought all the staff were lovely and really friendly.  I had such a  fantastic day, it was a surprise for my 30th!  I’ve always loved and wanted to work with animals and this was as close as I think I’ll ever get.  I loved the fact that it was just me and not a group of people doing Keeper for a Day, it made it more special to me and more memorable.  I was surprised by how hands on it was too.  I never thought I’d enjoy shovelling animal poo!!  It was great and a real insight into what goes on behind the scene.  I hear you’ll be getting giraffes next year so will be asking for Keeper for a Day as my next Birthday Present.  Thanks to everyone for making my birthday one to remember.

I just wanted to thank you all for the fantastic day you gave me on May 9th, I enjoyed every minute and feel that I learnt so much from you all, that’s a credit to your enthusiasm and knowledge, many thanks.

This was my 40th Birthday and a once in a lifetime experience, the Reptile keeper in particular was fantastic and very knowledgeable.

I really really enjoyed my day out.  All the keepers were really friendly and welcoming and knew their stuff! A special thank you to Iri in the Reptile house for teaching me about so many interesting animals.   I am now considering a change in career.

All the staff were friendly, helpful, had a great knowledge and were good fun to spend the day with.  A big thank you to you all, it was a day I’ll never forget,

All the staff were great but Iri in reptiles was the most passionate.  I just loved the experience, everyone was so nice, nothing was too much trouble.  Stick with the one to one don’t introduce groups.  I am so impressed with the work you all do especially for conservation.

All the staff were brilliant and made my time spectacular.  I had lots of fun and gained lots of new knowledge.  I thought it was a great idea to give out a certificate and goody bag at the end.

All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.  They all had great passion for their jobs and the animals they looked after.  I had an amazing day and enjoyed each part.  The feeding of the lions had to be the icing on the cake though if I had to pick a highlight.  Seeing behind the scenes was very interesting and being so close to the animals was such a privilege.  I have some great photos and fantastic memories that I will share with friends and family and will encourage anyone to try it.

All the staff were both helpful and very knowledgeable on their sections.  Roger who showed me round the farmyard was exception, every time I saw him throughout the day he was very helpful and informative.  I would like to reiterate how wonderful the experience was for me and to thank all the staff who made it such a memorable day, I will recommend it to everyone.

All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, however those on the children’s farm particularly made me feel welcome for my first part of the day.  This was a brilliant opportunity and one I would fully recommend to others.  The staff all made me feel really welcome and getting up close to the animals was amazing, many thanks!

All of the keepers were very friendly and knowledgeable but the enthusiasm of the reptile keeper and his co-worker stood out in particular. It was a wonderful day and I came away very happy and also more knowledgeable about the animals I helped care for.

All of the staff were very professional and extremely informative and friendly.  I had a wonderful day with some wonderful people.  If I had to choose one person who stood out it would be Dave in the Reptile house who coaxed George out of his pool and because of his knowledge not just of the reptiles but behind the scenes tour was amazing.  The lemurs and Penguins were wonderful (I saw TJ in the Oxford Mail), how many people can say they have fed Penguins and Lemurs.  Also a big thank you to Carole who arranged this.  I had a wonderful day, thank you!

Just to say a big thank you for making my day as a keeper one of the best experiences of my life.  All of the keepers I met were helpful and knowledgeable.  Although the weather wasn’t best this did not spoil my day in any way and I just wanted to say thank you to all the keepers who looked after myself and my wife for the day.

It was a most enjoyable day.  All the Keepers were very pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, please pass my thanks onto them.

All members of staff were absolutely fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable, but Mark (the lemur man) was particularly knowledgeable.  I cannot think of a better present that I could’ve had for my birthday.

The reptile section manager gave a very interesting tour and the man that showed me the wolves and peccaries was very helpful and friendly.

I really enjoyed working with every member of staff during the experience.  I especially enjoyed working with Roger in the morning as he made me feel at ease straight away as I was very nervous.  I want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome.  I still can’t believe some of the things I got to do, I thought it was an awesome day which I would definitely like to do again, thank you all so much.

The young lad from reptiles was excellent.

All of the keepers were extremely passionate and knowledgeable about their particular animals.  I was surprised that I really enjoyed the rhinos and reptiles and I think that was down to the keeper’s enthusiasm.  The whole experience was fantastic and I didn’t stop talking about it for days.  I even met the director and he was lovely.

The keeper that took me to see the lemurs was very helpful, and knowledgeable.  The young keeper who took me round the reptiles was also very knowledgeable and had a lot of interesting things to say and the keepers at the Farm and lions were great..

All the staff were extremely enthusiastic and accommodating to me.  They all have genuine passion for their work and made my day totally satisfying and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The young guy in the reptile house was my favourite!  I was also very nice that my partner could come along and see some of the behind the scenes areas.

All the keepers were different in their views and approaches but were all very helpful and informative and made me feel very special.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my day and certainly want to do it again.  Even the restaurant staff were helpful and considerate,  It is hard to pick favourite bits but I loved the penguin and lemur feeds and the siamangs and meerkats were a delight.

Hi - I was the "birthday boy" who was keeper for a day on the 17th earlier this month - I just wanted to say thank you to all of the keepers with whom I worked during what was a wonderful day - all of them were very willing to answer my questions and made me feel very welcome - I will never forget the experience of stick feeding the lions ( that made for impressive photos to send to my work colleagues ) or feeding the penguins but while it would be unfair to single out any particular section of the visit it is impossible not to mention what I thought was a magical experience of watching a chameleon  feed on locusts with its amazing tongue - seen it many times on wildlife documentaries but to actually see it in real life was quite extraordinary and a fitting climax to a memorable day - what a birthday!!

I wanted to send Carole, Jamie and every Keeper who was involved on Saturday a big thank you. It was an absolutely perfect day from beginning to end. The Keepers made every effort to make sure we were both involved and at no point did either of us feel left out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, obviously loved their jobs and were very well informed on their areas - providing us with information on the animals that we wouldn't even thought to have asked. They were all so easy to get on with and have a laugh with and it never felt awkward.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who looked after me on Saturday 6th December – including the two Chris’s,’ Roger, Mark etc I cannot remember all their names.  I had the most wonderful day with you guys – one I will never forget!  It was very special.  I would recommend it to anyone who loves and appreciates the wellbeing of animals. You guys do a wonderful job and show great dedication.

'thankyou very much to all your keepers and staff who made my 'Keeper for a day' experience, one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I enjoyed every minute of the day and was sad to leave the animals and keepers behind!'

'we would like to thank all the keepers for their welcome and their pride in which they took interest in their animals. We felt very safe and at ease with the staff and the day was very much enjoyed.'

'I had such a wonderful day being keeper for the day. Please, Please thank everyone envolved for being so patient and for answering all my questions. Everyone obviously loved their jobs and the animals they look after. I learnt a lot of interesting things and the day went much to quickly. Thank you all very much and I hope that I will be able to repeat the experience soon.'

'I had the privilege of attending your Wildlife Park, as a Keeper for the day, I must admit I was a little apprehensive, but as soon as I met the first Keeper I was put at my ease. All the Keepers I met during the day were very friendly and knowledgable and it seemed to me they were very passionate about their charges. I really enjoyed my day as a Keeper, and once again I would like to thank all the staff I met who helped in making my day so special.'
