Wolf enrichment May 2009 – Piles of rhino dung placed around enclosure

Canadian Timber Wolves

Canadian Timber Wolves

This is the most popular enrichment idea for the wolves. They always investigate it straight away, even before feed when both activities are done at the same time. A long time is spent sniffing, eating and rolling in the poo! This is a form of sensory enrichment and encourages the animal to use their sense of smell, sight and in this case taste.
