Groups and Breeding: Lay 2 eggs which are incubated for 24 days. The young fledge at 7 to 8 weeks.
Diet: Nectar feeders.
- Also known as the Brown Lory.
- 332 species make up the Psittacidae family (parrots) of which 53 species are known as lories.
- Duyvenbode's Lory is named after a well-known merchant of Ternate, an island in the Moluccas, Indonesia.
- Lorikeets have specialized tongues adapted feeding on nectar. Tiny hair-like structures called 'papillae' line the end of the tongue, enabling them to lap up nectar and pollen.
